Psycho-educational Assessment

Hong Kong Comprehensive Assessment Scales For Preschool Children (HKCAS-P)

(3 years and 4 months to 6 years and 3 months)

  • Assess preschool children in seven areas, including:

    • cognition

    • language

    • social cognition

    • fine motor functions

    • gross motor functions

    • perceptual function and ability

    • literacy and numeracy skills

  • Children can be referred to the Social Welfare Department for services based on their needs, including Early Education and Training Centers (EETC), Integrated Children's Centers for Disabled Children (ICCC), Special Child Care Centers (SCCC) and On-School Preschool Rehabilitation Service Scheme (OPRS).

Intellectual assessment (2 years and 0 months to 16 years and 11 months)​

Dyslexia Assessment (4 years and 3 months to high school)

  • Previous intellectual assessment required

  • Documents for application for special examination arrangements in the HKDSE Examination​ could be provided based on student needs

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessment

  • Referral to psychiatry can be made based on student needs

  • Documents (Attachment 8B) for application for special examination arrangements in the HKDSE Examination​ could be provided based on student needs

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Assessment

  • Referral to psychiatry can be made based on student needs

  • Documents (Attachment 8B) for application for special examination arrangements in the HKDSE Examination​ could be provided based on student needs

Psychiatric Specialist Referral Assessment

  • ​Suitable for students with suspected mental health needs (e.g. Selective mutism, social anxiety, panic disorder, depression or low mood, emotional regulation issues)

  • Referral to psychiatry can be made based on student needs

All assessment services include interviews with parents/carers to understand the child’s developmental background, as well as post-assessment interviews to explain the assessment results and provide training suggestions

All assessment services include a simple assessment summary. If you wish to apply for a detailed psychological assessment report (in English), you must submit the application within three months after the assessment.
